I went to Edinburgh this week and it was really cool. The city is quite small compared to what I thought it was. I also got to see the residences of a lot of my intellectual heroes, like Adam Smith and David Hume. The city is super livable and I could actually walk around compared to London. The city was a lot more organized then London. There are several fantastic monuments, such as the Edinburgh Castle and Arthur's Seat, a peak right outside of town. We also met with lot of influential MSP's and members of the European parliament from Scotland. Geographically the city is amazing and it has quite the pub culture. It is nice and compact and architectually beautiful.
I hung out more with the international students this trip and it was really fun. It is hard to eat with all them though, since they always argue about whose country is the best. They also don't really know a lot of teh social custuoms of the English speaking world, so things can get a bit chaotic at times. Its cool to learn about all their individual cultures. They are quite the crew and I have grown particularily close to Hannah from Poland and Tomas from Argentina. We went to quite a few local pubs that were definitely a lot cooler then London.
The city itself is amazing, look at some pictures on Google. Some amazing monuments, but my favorite part was Arthur's Seat, a geogrpahical feature located on the eastern side of the city. Its almost a 760 feet at its peak, and since the town is at sea level, you can see for miles. Really cool.
I definitely enjoyed the city and hope to talk again soon.
